Ms. Natcher and Ms. Teresa’s Class Notes

August 15th - 19th

This week we will ...

Religion—We are going to Church every Tuesday and Wednesday at 8:00.  We will leave our classroom at 7:55.  Today we went to church to find out where we sit (front three rows on the right hand side).  We learned how to act and what to do in church.

If your child arrives after 7:55 on church days, please put their bookbag by the classroom door, then walk them to church to meet us.

Math—We are sorting objects, recognizing alike and differences, and working on following directions.

Reading—We are reading Chicka Chicka Boom Boom , and other alphabet books

Phonics—Recognizing letters and sounds of the alphabet.  We are also recognizing our names.

Notes for the week—

We have had a great start to school!

Next week we will say good-bye to your child at the door and let them come into the room by themselves.  Everyone is doing a fantastic job remembering to get out their BEE book and check for notes, or lunch money, setting their workbox on the table to get ready for their day.

Remember to check the uniform policy and be sure your child is wearing the correct uniform.

Remember to send a healthy snack everyday.

On the way to school remind your child what they are doing for lunch, so when we do the lunch count they will know if they are buying something or not.  Also, tell your child if they are going to After Care that day.

In the cafeteria breakfast is available, but you have to pay with cash when you purchase the food.  They have juice, breakfast bars, sausage and biscuit, etc.

August Family Project

The first few weeks of school we are going to be learning about the most important words in the world… our names. Learning about our names and our friend’s names is a great introduction to learning letters and sounds. Attached you will find a family project. Please sit down with your child and discuss the questions. Children love to learn why their name is so special. You may write the answers for your child.

You will also find a piece of construction paper attached. Please make a poster with your child’s name. Be creative! You can use cereal, paint, stickers, fuzzy balls, pasta, etc. to glue on the letters. You can also cut the letters out of magazine or newspaper.

Please return the poster and info page to school by

Monday, August 22nd

We will hang these in the hallway for everyone to see!
