What is Futsal?

Futsal (five-a-side) soccer is the only internationally recognized form of indoor soccer approved by FIFA.  It is played in all the continents of the world by over 100 countries with 12 million players.

Futsal is a form of soccer but played on a basketball court and with a smaller, heavier soccer ball that is easier for kids to control, kick and catch up to.  Futsal is played with 5 players on each team, so players get to dribble, pass and shoot a lot more than in outdoor soccer.  Futsal is a non-contact sport with emphasis on skill rather than athletic make-up.

Futsal is exciting and fast paced with players constantly moving and not waiting back for the ball.  Futsal is a sport for all ’future athletes’ since players develop spatial reasoning, strategic thinking and skill execution.

The U.S. is just catching up to what the rest of the world already knows: superior skill in soccer is built around small-sided games that make soccer fun! St.Edward School provides these learning opportunities under a fun, safe free-style form of play.

Beat the Heat and learn the great game of Futsal to improve your own soccer game!

St. Edward Soccer Day Camp

St. Edward day camp will provide quality instruction on the basics of skill development in a fun, safe environment.  Attention will be focused on dribbling, passing and shooting with an opportunity each day to display newly learned techniques in group matches.  There will also be a skill competition on the last day of camp.  This camp is designed for players who are eager to advance their level of play (or learn how to play!), while being exposed to high level coaching.

Campers will benefit from specialized instruction from our Staff.  Our staff has over 20 years of youth soccer camp experience and are committed to encouraging students to improve their ability in a value centered environment.

Repetition is critical for technical improvement and is often overlooked or eliminated in team training sessions. This 4 day camp will focus on performing skills under the supervision of former professional players, current Div. 1 Coaches and Div. I players.  Small sided games will be played each day.

Each skills training session will cover a different topic including but not limited to dribbling, passing, finishing, crossing, juggling, moves and feints, etc…
