School Counseling
The goal of counseling is to enhance the ability of students to function in the school environment and to help them cope with issues that may be disrupting their personal or family life.
Since 1976, the school Counseling Program has helped thousands of students and their families find their way during times of emotional upheaval, loss and physical and mental problems.
St. Edward School has contracted with Catholic Charities to provide a counselor on site. Cheryl Hales, the counselor, can provide individual family or group counseling and make appropriate referrals to community resources.
How to Request Services:
The principal, faculty, a student or a student’s parent can make referrals. There are referral forms in the main office in the counseling mail box. Please fill out and place in the provided confidential envelope. Parents need to be contacted before the student is seen. A student may be seen once without parents’ permission for urgent reasons. Subsequent sessions require signed parent authorization and their involvement in the counseling is desired and encouraged.
