Rev. Delphinus Mutajuka
I am Delphinus Mutajuka. I am from Arusha City, Tanzania, in East Africa. I am the third born in the family. I have two older brothers and one younger sister. Both my parents are deceased. My father passed away in 2003 and my mother in 2005, both of typhoid fever. I was in minor seminary at Uru Seminary in Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, for six years for both Ordinary and Advanced levels (equivalent to high school and college in the United States). After that I went to major seminary in Nairobi, Kenya, for philosophy and religious studies and graduated in May 2008 with a Bachelor of Art in philosophy. I then decided to apply to join the Peoria Diocese in Illinois. I was a seminarian for the Peoria Diocese for five years while attending the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus, Ohio. I graduated with a Master of Divinity. In 2013, I joined the Diocese of Nashville and was assigned at Good Shepherd in Decherd, TN, as a seminarian for year before being ordained as Transitional Deacon. My ordination to the transitional diaconate was in April 2014, and three months later I was ordained to the priesthood on July 26, 2014. This July 26th will mark the 5th anniversary of my ordination to the priesthood. I am so grateful to have opportunities to serve different parishes and institutions in our Diocese of Nashville. From 2014 to 2017, I assigned to be Associate Pastor at St. Rose of Lima in Murfreesboro. From July of 2017 through July 2018, I was assigned as a chaplain at St. Thomas Midtown Hospital while in residence at St Matthew Parish in Franklin. From July 2018 to July 2019, I was assigned as chaplain at Father Ryan High School while still in residence at St Matthew Parish. And now I have been assigned to serve as Associate Pastor at St Edward Parish.
