Through the following dynamic programs, it is our hope that St. Edward parish meets the spiritual, mental and social needs of our youth today and empowers them to live out their Catholic faith in meaningful ways as they continue to grow into mature adults.
St. Edward’s preparation for Confirmation is a two year program in the 7th and 8th grades. We meet on Sunday evenings from 6:00 – 8:00pm in the cafeteria during the months of September to April. Our time together consist of an opening game, a brief teaching, small group discussions/private reflections, a time of prayer and then dinner.
Within our weekly meetings, we have three different types of nights: catechetical, issue, and social. Catechetical nights focus on a teaching of our Catholic faith, issue nights focus on an issue that the teens may be facing in their lives and how their faith can help them deal with the issue. Social nights are focus on having fun and building community. We use a curriculum put out by Life Teen.
Youth in high school who need to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation will meet separately in the church Conference Room on Sunday evenings from 6:00 – 8:00pm for one year during the months of September to April. They will join in dinner at 7:30pm with everyone else. The Chosen program by Ascension Press that we use consists of a plug-in-play video and student workbook combination that is both engaging and rich and designed to lead candidates into a deeper relationship with Christ.

High School Youth Group
St. Edward’s high school youth group is for those in 9th to 12th grade. We meet Sunday evenings in the Carell Room from 6:00 – 8:00pm. Our time together consists of an opening game, a brief teaching on our Catholic faith, a discussion on the teaching, a time of prayer followed by dinner at 7:30pm. Also similar to the middle school, our weekly meetings are composed of three types of nights: catechetical, issue, and social. During the summer months, our meetings will be purely social. We use a curriculum put out by Life Teen.
