Whether you are a returning Catholic to St. Edward, a newcomer to the Nashville area or someone with an emerging interest in the Catholic faith, I, the parishioners and school families of St. Edward Catholic Parish welcome you to our home where we have been serving the Catholic community since 1952.
We provide an atmosphere in which parishioners of all ages and cultures share faith through Sacramental and Liturgical celebrations, ongoing faith formation, catechesis, social and sporting events, and celebrations that enable us to connect our faith with the world in which we live.
As a parish community, some of our proudest moments come through the children served through our religious education programs and our school, creating the next generation of Catholics to serve here locally and to share the message of Christ throughout our diverse world.
This acceptance of diversity is long-standing. Back in 1963, St. Edward hosted the first integrated football games in the parochial league when they were not welcomed elsewhere. As the diversity of Nashville’s population grew, so did that of St. Edward School. When the Hispanic population in the area grew, the doors were opened to support their needs as well. Proximity to major interstates provides another link to diversity. This easy access brings in students from 28 different zip codes around the city. Today, the diversity of our population is a true reflection of the racial, ethnic and economic variety of the city.
Our school is accredited by the Diocese of Nashville and has various programs including STEM based project learning, Catechesis of the Good Shepherd and a powerful respect for spirituality. We are proud to serve children from Pre-Kindergarten (3 and 4 year olds) through 8th grade on our school campus. Most importantly, St. Edward Catholic School commits to teach as Jesus did; instilling a love of our Catholic faith and love of neighbor. St. Edward Catholic School creates a caring, respectful environment which promotes academic excellence, develops responsible citizenship and fosters life-long learning. The school strives to reach each child through an engaging environment filled with hands on learning and a true compassion for life. Instilling a love for God, the teachings of Jesus and a true passion for learning are the most important lessons we can share with our children.
I certainly hope you will acquaint yourself with what the parish and school have to offer by exploring our website, and I encourage you to become an active member of St. Edward Catholic Church. If I can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me, or any other member of the parish staff, by calling the Parish Office at (615) 833-5520 or [email protected].
In Christ,
Rev. Andrew Bulso
